And practically all of the American breakfast dishes at Waffle House are worth braving the morning traffic on Highway 59.

There’s no shortage of great seafood in Foley, which makes it even more impressive that this fast-food fish spot holds its own against the best fried fish joints in the area. Not only is Captain D’s convenient, affordable space a perfect addition to Foley’s quick meal rotation, the food delivers, too.
The menu is wide—probably a little too wide—so we recommend concentrating mostly on the popular seafood dishes like the Salmon n Shrimp skewer and fish and shrimp meals with crispy fish, then finishing with the standout french fries.

A longtime chain operation, this casual sit-down restaurant is located in a cozy, wood-paneled space off AL-59 that provides overnight parking for RVs.
Expect to enjoy generous portions of perfectly grilled New York Strip steak with eggs and grits, scrambled eggs that taste just like Grandma used to make, and campfire chicken that will inspire you to ask for extra napkins. Drop in for a late breakfast, a quiet dinner, or whenever you’re in the mood for something familiar, but still delicious.

Hattie’s Restaurant needs almost no introduction. Whether you’ve lived in Foley your whole life or are just passing through for some beach time, chances are you’ve at least heard of this soul food spot. The welcoming space feels like the kitchen of a beloved grandmother’s home, and its menu has everything from baked mac and cheese to the must-try fried chicken with mac n cheese and cabbage. But dinner is when Hattie’s is at its best.
The food is cooked from scratch, the service is great, and we’ll happily wait for a table to enjoy plenty of both.
The Gift Horse Restaurant

When The Gift Horse Restaurant opened in that historic Foley building, it gave the town the kind of classic American buffet you’d find in a grandmother’s dining room or a repurposed general store from the 1920s. Which is to say, there’s lots of opera music, friendly staff, and tables filled with families enjoying lunch together. Those things are still there, only now the experience feels more established, so if you want a reliable spot for fried chicken and yams, you can have it.
Standout dishes include the crispy fried chicken, the apple cheese casserole with its familiar canned-like consistency, and the bread pudding…with its drippy, soggy texture. Maybe you sense a theme.
Magnolia Bar & Grill

Though these elements are evocative of classic Southern hospitality, it doesn’t feel forced—it’s just nice to eat and relax somewhere other than a chain restaurant. Plus, the comfort food here is quite good, from the fried chicken and mac and cheese to hearty burgers and that mouth-watering fried pork chop. All dining experiences at The Gathering Place are part of the welcoming local atmosphere.

If you’re looking for classic American comfort food, Culver’s in Foley, AL delivers exactly that—a straightforward, satisfying experience where friendly staff and efficient service are the main attractions. You’ll appreciate the simple, clean dining area with its bright lighting and accessible layout, making it easy to settle in for a meal. Culver’s makes some of the best butter burgers in town, and yet, the burgers might not even be the best thing on the menu.
That honor could go to the crispy cheese curds, hot pretzel bites, or blackberry cobbler custard we’d happily wait in a 10-minute drive-thru line to enjoy. This place isn’t the fanciest or most nostalgic or most innovative restaurant around, but it is reliably great.

For years now, Alabama’s Original Blue Line BBQ & Grill has delivered some of the most exceptional event catering in the region. It’s more polished (and impressive) than the modest setup might suggest, and you should expect to invest a fair amount for their services.
It’s absolutely justified though—from perfectly presented wedding buffets to flawlessly executed large events, this is where genuine Southern hospitality and outstanding barbecue come together.
