It sounds obvious, but there are lots of people doing lots of things around Kanata. You’ve got tech campuses. You’ve got hockey arenas. You’ve got the bloody Canadian Tire Centre. Basically, it’s non-stop and everyone tries to be as efficient as possible. Which is reflected in a lot of the Chinese restaurants around here.

New Queen Restaurant
$$$ | (613) 836-6672 | WEBSITE

There are many things to appreciate about New Queen Restaurant, not least the fact that we find it a consistently reliable option for Chinese takeout in Kanata. Of course it’s all about their chicken balls: crisp and fresh out the fryer, maintaining their perfect texture even after delivery, and steaming with savory flavor. All of which pairs beautifully with their vegetable chow mein, praised for its authentic wok hei taste.
That will always be the #1 appeal, closely followed by their delicious Shanghai noodles and wontons.
Manchu Wok

You should expect two things from Manchu Wok. One is freshness. And the other is the kind of generous portions that make you understand exactly why they’ve turned things around. The atmosphere of this Chinese spot is straightforward and functional, with quick service from polite staff who prepare everything fresh upon request. Basically, it’s reliable, it’s satisfying, and the food is flavorful. Be warned, it’s not fancy and the seating is basic, but for a solid Chinese meal, it delivers.
Lucky Dragon Delight
$$$ | (613) 836-7898 | WEBSITE

Lucky Dragon Delight is the go-to spot for those craving authentic Chinese flavors in Kanata. Need we say more? Probably not, but we will anyway. It’s got the same family-friendly classics that we know and love—excellent dim sum, fresh Shrimp Siu Mai, delicious General Tso’s Chicken—only in a cozy and welcoming neighborhood setting. The service is prompt and friendly, with orders ready in no time.
Though, after the first visit, you’ll find yourself coming back again and again for that satisfying meal.
Chinhon Restaurant
$ | (613) 838-5555 | WEBSITE

Chinhon Restaurant is a Chinese takeout spot that specialises in fresh and warm comfort food. Basically, it’s similar to your classic Chinese joint that’s been put under a serious quality check and bulked up on flavour big time. When it comes to the menu you can expect everything from crispy chicken balls, to orange chicken, to our personal favourite, the wonton soup.
It’s a straightforward and convenient space but be warned, Chinhon is a bit pricey compared to other places but the food is worth it and the empty parking lot makes it a breeze for quick pickups.
Bambou Restaurant
$$ | (819) 684-5558 | WEBSITE

There are restaurants you want to be in for quiet lunches, others you save for family gatherings, and some that you simply want to enjoy reliably and contentedly in. Bambou Restaurant is all of the above. Unassuming but consistently satisfying, just like the food it serves, there is little that doesn’t feel right about this Chinese restaurant that’s a convenient drive through Kanata. It feels more like a meal at a hospitable neighbor’s home than anything formal.
Expect the space to be filled with gentle conversations, comfortable seating, and chopsticks and bowls that are getting stuck into fresh and tasty meals delivered quickly by lovely staff who respond politely in French.
Harbin Chinese Restaurant 哈尔滨老道外砂锅居
$$ | (613) 263-1586 | WEBSITE

Harbin Chinese Restaurant is the most authentic Chinese spot in Kanata. We know we’re not meant to care about these things, but, honestly, it’s hard to resist a little smile when you walk into their bright, no-frills dining room near the high-tech park. This place isn’t trying to be trendy, it just is. The food itself is tasty enough, though by no means the best we’ve ever had.
It doesn’t really matter though as a solid portion of sweet and sour pork with rice is well under fifteen dollars, and also a bit priceless in a place like this.
Mandarin Restaurant
$$ | (613) 271-6000 | WEBSITE

You’ll find prime rib, lemon chicken, and fresh sushi at Mandarin Restaurant. The Kanata buffet spot is from the same family-friendly tradition as other Mandarin locations and although this place isn’t quite as intimate during peak hours, it’s still a solid choice for some hand-scooped ice cream and more. Just remember to ask for the dessert section early. Not the polite kind of early either.
Welcome Back Chinese Restaurant
$ | (613) 820-1225 | WEBSITE

Welcome Back Chinese Restaurant is a reliable neighborhood spot tucked away in Kanata. The dining room itself always feels welcoming and the menu is straightforward and full of affordable Chinese standards. Ignore all these options and focus on one thing only: the egg rolls. This place is home to Kanata’s finest crispy cylinders. Whether it’s the classic pork and vegetable, or the shrimp version, every egg roll is pretty outstanding.
The General Tao chicken is decent and the Singapore noodles are solid, but those egg rolls—crisp, flavorful, perfectly fried—are what keep people coming back. Service is quick and friendly, the decor has that comfortable, lived-in feel, and for about $12-15 a main, you’re getting good value. It might not be the most adventurous Chinese food in town, but for consistent, satisfying eats, Welcome Back delivers.
Hung Mein Chinese Take Out Delivery
$ | (613) 828-7926 | WEBSITE

There’s nothing like a bit of comfort. And Hung Mein is a restaurant that understands that. Not in a fancy, white-tablecloth way, but in a ‘wow, look at that steaming hot container of Singapore Vermicelli they just handed me’ kind of way. They specialize in generous portions and affordable prices—a value-focused takeout situation—but they also serve other classics like wonton soup, fried rice, and some very satisfying hot and sour soup and Shanghai noodles.
The parking lot has ample spaces for quick pickups, but the fresh, satisfying, no-fuss feel makes it perfect for a busy weeknight dinner, a lazy weekend lunch, or a getting-your-favorite-combo-plate-again craving.
Barrhaven Lucky Panda Chinese Food
$ | (613) 825-8080 | WEBSITE

The quality of Barrhaven Lucky Panda’s food, portions, and value means that it can feel reductive to simply call it a Chinese takeout spot. But that’s what it is. A better way to put it is that this quaint little restaurant is pushing the boundaries of what you should expect from a neighborhood Chinese joint in its unassuming Barrhaven location.
Not only does Lucky Panda serve consistently fresh and tasty Asian cuisine but it has also perfected its own standout dish in the form of their popular General Tao Chicken, as well offering well-portioned, generous meals that satisfy cravings, plus quick, no-fuss dinners at decent prices.
Ting’s Kitchen
$ | (613) 592-7888 | WEBSITE

When it comes to Ting’s Kitchen, we’re still slightly suspicious that someone stole an entire restaurant from a bustling Asian market and dropped it down in Kanata. This reliable local takeout spot has been serving the neighborhood for years and everything from its consistently good pad Thai and laap, to the generous portions, and friendly staff, means that you’re pretty much guaranteed a satisfying meal here.
Don’t miss their General Tao’s Tofu, a big portion of puffy fried tofu and cashews in a delicious sauce that arrives steaming hot in your takeout container. See, authentic.
Jade Yi’s Kitchen
$ | (613) 592-2711 | WEBSITE

Everyone knows the worth of a place that you can just walk into and sit down, no stress, at any time of day or night. Especially one that actually serves good food. Jade Yi’s Kitchen is one of those. This Chinese spot in Kanata is one of our go-tos when we’re in need of some Har Gow dumplings, alone or with other people. Although we like a lot of the menu, it’s the Hot and Sour soup that we keep coming back to. That said, don’t sleep on their sweet and sour chicken with pineapples.
It’s some of the best we’ve had.
Lanterne De Szechwan
$$$ | (819) 684-6886 | WEBSITE

Lanterne De Szechwan is the exact kind of restaurant every takeout-only area in Aylmer needs. This is a straightforward, family-run Chinese spot that doesn’t overthink things. The dishes are the kind with bold, spicy, and fresh flavors, and a super quick, slightly no-frills preparation. They’re a steal at under fifteen bucks for the orange beef with steamed rice, considering how good it tastes.
Unfortunately this spot is no secret and it’s usually busy, so call ahead if you’re going at peak lunch or dinnertime.
