Maguire’s
$ | (770) 727-3020 | WEBSITE

Maguire’s off the main road is worth knowing about if you’re looking for somewhere a little less likely to be packed to the rafters before or after a day out. Their chicken and waffles has seen us get through many an evening and, if you’re feeling unexpectedly emotional at having paid money you earned to try something new, then the donut burger will soak up your worries.
The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it a welcoming spot where the Irish Stew remains a favorite, though the chicken pot pie has disappointed some with recent changes. With knowledgeable servers and a kid-friendly setup, it’s become a local haunt where the jumbo wings stand out and the Monte Cristo sandwich arrives quickly. While prices run slightly higher than average, the quality keeps us coming back.
HJ Wings & Things
$ | (770) 502-1979 | WEBSITE

There’s no guarantee you’re going to love every wing sauce you try but, we think, there’s a reasonable guarantee you’re going to enjoy HJ Wings & Things. In fact, anyone that doesn’t appreciate their perfectly cooked scorcher wings with a side of pink rare mushroom Swiss burger, crispy kids’ meals, and friendly attentive service for around $25 is pretty hard to please in our book.
This Sharpsburg spot is a local favorite for good reason and it’s worth the slightly higher prices for the quality you get.

The Philly Cheesesteak Fries, Norman’s Pick, and that phenomenal Mexican burger are all essentials here, especially with their thoughtful dairy-free and gluten-free options. The friendly staff provides top-notch service in a cool outdoor atmosphere where the drinks are amazing and the prices remain reasonable—making it easy to understand why regulars call it the best restaurant ever and plan their return before the check even arrives.

The fast-food spot is somewhere you can (and we have) visited multiple times per week. The fresh fries are always crispy and welcome, as is a cup of the Orange Creamsicle Frosty. FYI, it’s got both counter service and a drive-thru for when you’re in a hurry.

Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom
$ | (470) 891-5154 | WEBSITE

As far as weekend traditions go, a game on TV and dinner at Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom is very much up there. The pizza joint has gone from strength to strength since opening its doors, and once you try the Sicilian Pepperoni Pizza Rolls, you’ll understand why. Specials on the menu change regularly, but you can still expect to find OC Deep Dish pizza, Jamaican Jerk Wings, and the always-essential beer selection on the menu. Just, done with a little more flair.
The atmosphere is lively yet cozy, with Christmas-looking lights adding warmth and plenty of TVs for entertainment. Friendly staff like Mason and Nola provide attentive service, while the manager often checks in to ensure satisfaction. The well-balanced music allows for easy conversation, making it a great destination for families and individuals alike. This place continues to be a favorite for many, offering a fun and friendly experience every visit.
Miller’s Ale House
$ | (229) 355-2710 | WEBSITE

Miller’s Ale House has a famously friendly and attentive waitstaff who smile in the face of rowdy sports fans and spilled beers. However, we’re pretty sure a lukewarm mozzarella stick or watered-down margarita might slip through if you’re distracted by the game. Either way, Miller’s Ale House is a solid choice before or after catching the big game nearby.
The sports bar doesn’t try to be anything upscale, but it does try and succeed in serving satisfying and reasonably priced pretzels, fish and chips, beers on tap, and more.
